From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.
